  • Hoa Lu was the capital city of Vietnam under the Dinh Dynasty between 968 and 1009. Some of the sanctuaries and tombs have survived the years and can still be seen today. Apart from the historical interest, the river boat trip in Tam Coc is wonderful for photo hunters, especially when local people come to harvest the water rice planted along the river, or when they transplant some seedling for the next crops. Tam Coc sight is also known as Halong bay on land.
  • Bai Dinh pagoda with the total area of 2000ha, the Bai Dinh complex is the biggest Buddhism center of South east Asia with hundreds of statues of different sizes. Travelers will be attracted by the architecture which is so marvelous, majestic but still preserve traditional features. Leaving Bai Dinh, you will head to Trang An ecological tourist site where you take a boat trip to visit many caves of different sizes in a scenic landscape of Trang An.
  • Tuyet Tinh Coc (Am Tien cave pagoda), Hang Mua and Trang An scenic complex. See the wonderful view of countryside from above from Hang Mua and relax on a boat trip to immerse with stunning nature and admire many mysterious caves of this UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.

 

Tour Itinerary

Duration: 9 hours – 8.00 – 17.00.

Option 1 : Visit Hoa Lu ancient capital and take sampan trip on Tam Coc.

8:00AM, pick up at your hotel and head out for Ninh Binh (2 hours driving). There is a beautiful roadside scenery on the way. Arriving in Ninh Binh city, first pay a visit to Hoa Lu – the ancient Royal Capital of Vietnam, visit the two temples: Temple of King Dinh and King Le, admire the unique architecture from ancient times.

Continue to Tam Coc and have lunch at a nice restaurant with many local delicacies. Then boarding a small sampan to visit Tam Coc which means literally “three caves” (2.5 hour boat trip). With Halong bay type views of majestic limestone cliffs and mysterious caves, as well as countryside landscape like peaceful streams, rice paddies and deserted green fields, Tam Coc really has it all. You will feel the fresh air and peaceful moments, a very good opportunities for photo lovers, freezing the special moments and scenery.

Time permits, you can also visit Bich Dong pagoda nearby and climb up the mountain to have a wonderful perspective view of the Bich Dong and Tam Coc. Return to Hanoi late afternoon.

Optional: Riding a bike through the countryside in Tam Coc  or climbing up to Hang Mua, you will wallow in a wonderful landscape of mountain, valley and river, enjoy the spectacular views from Hang Mua over Tam Coc and Ninh Binh’s stunning countryside.

Option 2 : Hang Mua – Trang An Day tour 

7.30 pick up at your hotel to depart for Ninh Binh province (2 hour driving). We start visiting Tuyet Tinh Coc (the on top pagoda inside the cave) from there you can see the romantic lake surrounded by Karsts and jungles. There is green lake in the middle of the mountainous valley. After taking pictures of the beautiful lake, You climb up to see Am Tien cave and pagoda, then take overview pictures of the lake.

Continue traveling to Hang Mua, you will wallow in a wonderful landscape of mountain, valley and river. We first climb up hundreds of steps to lead to a temple on top of a hill, the spectacular views from Hang Mua over Tam Coc and Ninh Binh’s stunning countryside are well worth the effort.

Have lunch at local restaurant with some local specialty.

Continue to visit Trang An Scenic Landscape complex nearby which recently recognized as an UNESCO World natural heritage, get on a rowing boat (small sampan) traveling along the small river with scenic mountain and green fields landscape. Boat takes you to visit cave complex of Trang An: Sang Cave, Toi Cave, Ba Giot Cave, Nau Ruou in mystery and wildness, the scenery of mountain and rivers – Halong on land of Ninh Binh. Have a stop and climb up to the Tran temple to have good view of surround area.

Drive back to your hotel in Hanoi, end the tour around 19.00.

Option 3 – Bai Dinh Pagoda & Trang An Eco  Day Tour

Duration: 8-9 hours
Explore the center of Buddhism Bai Dinh pagoda and Trang An grottoes

8:30: pick up at your hotel to depart for Ninh Binh province (100km) for our day tour of Bai Dinh pagoda & Trang An ecosystem. We spend time to visit the Buddha Prayer place in Bai Dinh Pagoda, the biggest pagoda in Vietnam with 500 La Han statues, biggest bronze Buddha statue in Vietnam with 10 meters height, 100 tons weight.

Have lunch at local restaurant with some local special dishes such as Goat meat with elderberry, pork storage vessel.

Continue to visit Trang An Scenic Landscape complex nearby which recently recognized as an UNESCO World natural heritage, get on a rowing boat (small sampan) traveling along the small river with scenic mountain and green fields landscape. Boat takes you to visit cave complex of Trang An: Sang Cave, Toi Cave, Ba Giot Cave, Nau Ruou in mystery and wildness, the scenery of mountain and rivers – Halong on land of Ninh Binh.

Late afternoon, drive back to your hotel in Hanoi. End this tour of Trang An – Bai Dinh Pagoda around 18.00.
